A HAPPY GOING AWAY PARTY

Yesterday after closing hours, the agents, office Admin person and manager gathered at the The Grill for a short send off celebration for Ashley Stalling our receptionist. Ashley has been working on her Master's Degree while working part time and starts her student teaching next week. Ashley did a great job and was the first person you saw walking into the Coldwell Banker King Thompson's Newark/Granville Office. Her work ethic and smile was outstanding and will be missed by all. Also attending the group was Brittany Kovach, Brittany will be taking over Ashley's duties and will do just as well. The Grill was the perfect place to be on another snowy Friday early evening.

2009 WAS NOT A BAD YEAR FOR THE GUANCIALE GROUP

This past Tuesday, Coldwell Banker King Thompson invited all agents to OSU's Fawcett Center for the 2009 Awards Ceremony. This is when you know if you worked hard and how successful you were compared to other agents.

The Guanciale Group was recognized as #6 of over 46,000 agents nationally in the number of selling units and within the TOP 2% of 100,000 CB Agents Worldwide.

Andrew Guanciale was recognized by being honored with the Community Service Award given to one agent for their good deeds and involvement within their Community.

We also received honors as the Top Listing/Selling & Closing Team in Licking County, along with Andrew, Lisa & Patrick receiving the Quality Choice Award for client service and satisfaction. Earning President Council Elite allows the team to attend special seminars and round table functions for experienced agents.

We we were happy, but back to work for the 2010 goals by Noon on Tuesday.

AIRPORT SHOE SHINE TIME

This morning I was picking up my wife and her Aunt Diane at the Columbus Airport. I planned the entire morning so I could arrive at the airport 15 minutes early, to enjoy a luxury: have a shoe shine. As soon as I walked into the terminal, the shoe shine stand was not there, looked around and found it a few feet away from it's old spot. Then the disappointment came into to play, two shoe shine guys, two chairs and both were taken along with two guys in line. I waited and had to leave or be punished for not being at baggage carousel #3. Young shoe shine guys now wear latex gloves instead of applying the polish where they leave a fingerprint or two.
If you want to see some interesting artwork, take a walk down the hallway to the CMH's restrooms next to Cup O' Joe. The artwork displayed was by Curtis Goldstein. Click here for Curtis' blog.
Why is coffee some times referred to as a "Cup of Joe": Josephus Daniels (1862_1948) was appointed Secretary of the U.S. Navy by President Woodrow Wilson in 1913. Among his numerous reforms of the Navy was the abolition of the officers wine mess. From that time on, the strongest drink aboard navy ships was coffee and over the years, a cup of coffee became known as "a cup of Joe".

DEER REPELLENT

I have been thinking about how to scare the deer out of my yard without PETA or the deer friendly people picketing my home and office. Last night I thought about a sling shot. After Google gave me more information than I ever wanted to know, instead of ordering, I first wanted to see what I could purchase locally.
But, this morning I pulled out of the driveway, looked around the neighborhood and decided it would be too expensive to replace the neighbor's windows from misses, so it is back to verbally abusing the deer. Good idea, wrong neighborhood.

ORGANIZED TEAM WORK

Above you will find a photo of Vicki, Mandy, Cheri & Jennifer of the Licking County Chamber of Commerce. This past week Cheri Hottinger received a prestigious award from the Chamber of Commerce Executives of Ohio, she was awarded as CCEO Professional of the Year. No doubt came into any one's mind that Cheri would not praise her staff while accepting her award. The "Chamber Girls" are a well tuned team, as I drove the three ladies above along with Chamber Chairperson Kim Lust to the awards dinner, I learned a lot about the three women who enjoy their careers at the Chamber and how important it was to be a team player. Click here to learn more about Cheri Hottinger's award.

Below you will perhaps find future "Chamber Girls", because they are team players:
Coach Dino Guanciale at the chalkboard going over "man to man" defence before a big game with his 6th grade Westerville St. Pauls lady team. Once again, team work. This team plays tremendous basketball, with each member knowing how to excel by using all the team's players skills. This is why they won the League Championship last night.

NEW BLOG: GIRLS GONE UNDER

This could be the blog that makes me smile and laugh. Mallory Hardy and her two friends have hit the road (sea) to Australia.

Only suggestion I have for Mallory and her friends is when it comes to decision making, think what your mother Nancy Hardy would do and not what your father Dave Hardy would do.

TRAINING AND BEING PREPARED

This past week, I was invited by Asst. Chief O'Brien and his crew for a session at the Newark Fire Department Station #1 to listen to the representative of Scott Health & Safety go over the new air pack the fire department will using in the near future.

I felt this was important to take the hour, since I don't want to look like some dummy at 3:00am trying to figure out how to change an air bottle on the back of a firefighter.

Training is an important thing in any profession, but watching 20 very quiet fellows listening to the instructor was very impressive. This is not a work item that you learn on the job since it is a matter of life or death.

One of the unique items I found of interest, on the back of the air pack is a lighting system, so a firefighter will know when the fellow in front of him is working on a quarter of tank of air. How many times do you wish a co-worker was able to watch over your back and know when it is time to help out?

Information from the Scott site, most people don't think about:

"The Scott Air-Pak 75 SCBA is defining the future of SCBA technology by going beyond the standards with innovative features, advanced technologies, and optional accessories not available on any other SCBA, such as integrated carrying handles, buddy indicators lights, a Drag Rescue Loop (DRL) for rescuing downed firefighters, an angled mechanical gauge with edge lighting, a simplified central power management system with a single battery module, and a streamlined backframe for improved hose management and user comfort, all while continuing to offer the time-tested legendary features and reliable performance you've come to know from Scott."

McITALY'S ALL ITALIAN BURGER

This photo was taken at the McDonald's across from Rome's 20 century old Pantheon. Today my sister Robin emailed me information regarding the new All-Italian burger served in Italian McDonald's using all Italian beef, Asiago cheese and artichoke spread. This is an attempt to boost the agricultural economy of Italy.

Italy's Prime Minister is one of the more interesting leaders of the world. Often shadowed by several of his wild parties and cabinet appointees (She is not a relative).

TAKING A DIFFERENT ROUTE

Many years ago I was encouraged to take a different route when I was driving my car to a certain point. It was mentioned besides seeing something new, that I may see a home for sale that I had not before.
Today, I am making a good attempt at trying to be green and saving fuel. I try to combine trips to downtown Newark from my office etc.
Last Saturday, I saw the Fairmont Church, located on Fairmont Road just south of National Road in Licking County, Ohio. The way the church sits on top of the hill next to a cemetery caught my eye. I have driven by the church many times over the years, but now that I drive slower (thank you to the teachings of the now deceased Heath Traffic Cameras) it caused me to notice the church a little longer than I have in the past.
