NO MORE SHORT SLEEVED DRESS SHIRTS

There are no more short sleeved dress shirts. When I ever see a fellow wearing a short sleeved oxford or pinpoint shirt with a tie, I think back to years ago to the Apollo Mission Control photo in Life Magazine.
This is almost a cross over from business attire and casual business dress as most see today.

SPREAD THE STUPIDITY

Only in America
......do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.

Only in America .....do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a diet coke.

Only in America .....do banks leave vault doors open and then chain the pens to the counters.

Only in America .....do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.

Only in America .........do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight.

Only in America .....do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering.

EVER WONDER ...
Why the sun lightens our hair, but darkens our skin?
Why can't women put on mascara with their mouth closed?
Why don't you ever see the headline 'Psychic Wins Lottery'?
Why is 'abbreviated' such a long word?
Why is it that doctors call what they do 'practice'?
Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons?
Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?
Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?
Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food?
Why didn't Noah swat those two mosquitoes?
Why do they sterilize the needle for lethal injections?
You know that indestructible black box that is used on airplanes? Why don't they make the whole plane out of that stuff?!
Why don't sheep shrink when it rains?
Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

I like this one!!!
If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of progress?

Thank you Capt. J. Lewis for this information.

BILL CLINTON STATUE

We had an excellent guide through the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel. She was from Bose, Idaho, she visited Rome after college and has been living in Rome for the past four years.
On our tour, we saw so many great pieces of art, multiple centuries old. As we were touring the museum, she pointed out the statue in this photo. She said she always points it out, because people usually think it looks like Bill Clinton, especially with the hair style.
Pope who ever in what ever century had all the private features of the male statues removed and covered with a fig leave. Jennifer the guide pointed out the Pope did not have to do this particular statue, Hillary took care of it.

ITALIAN CHILDREN DRESS

One point of interest in Italy is the dress of adults and children. The children from a very young age through their teenage years, they dress well in public.

The photo was taken in a small village, you will notice this young girls hair is almost perfect, her clothes clean and well matched. So was her mother's outfit for the evening. (I know several who would have rather seen a photo of the mother.)

Almost all Italian women and men when they leave their home for a short trip to the store, to church or just to sit at a local cafe wear the best clothes they own. The same is with dressing their children. It has been like this for many years and evidently becomes a lesson while growing up for Italian children. This is one amazing difference between our country and another.

NON-TECH SOCIAL NETWORKING

Technology has given everyone many opportunities to stay in touch with others. I have my "fun" blog, my real estate blog which always needs updating, a web site and you can find my name on Facebook, Linkedin and on Twitter. All have been great to use and I must admit, I have made some contacts.

But, face to face introductions along with a good handshake is still the #1 way to meet people. I mean people as in future clients and people you hope will refer their friends and family to you to become clients.

For many years the Licking County Chamber of Commerce has given their members the opportunity to have many face to face and handshake contact with others. I enjoy the Techno Social Networking, but being at a Chamber Business After Hours, Legislative Luncheon, Annual Meeting, Lunch and Learn, Annual Golf Outing, Ground Hog Breakfast etc. has become a very low budget way of advertising myself and allowing others to learn about my services and business.

I sit in an Open House almost every Sunday for two hours and hope to meet one or two future clients perhaps, kind of like a job interview. The opportunities at the Chamber's events to meet multiple contacts within a two hour period would beat a good open house on any Sunday.

Any person in business with a service or product to promote should have a blog, Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin, but should not miss any opportunity to attend a Chamber event to do their face to face and handshake social networking. The yearly dues for a Chamber membership is surprising low for what you can receive in return, but you have to remember to take advantage of the opportunities.

RACHEL IS BACK, WELL KIND OF

Several years ago, Rachel the long time owner of Ohio Shoe Repair located in Downtown Newark, Ohio passed away, unexpectedly.
Many men (those who wear hard sole shoes) were worried about what will they do for new heel and sole replacement.
Since her death, I have had several pairs of shoes repaired by Newark Cleaners and Shoe Repair in Heath, Ohio. After the several pair test, I finally braved it to take my favorite dress shoes to have half rubber soles and heels replaced.
The cobbler is not a Rachel, but close enough for my satisfaction. By the way, I drove the speed limit and stopped at red lights in Heath, Ohio on the way and it did not bother me.

CASUAL SHOE KNOTS

Above you will find the direction for guys who do not want to tie a formal bow on their casual shoes. This is a swing back from Sperry Top Sider days, untied laces are hard to keep in place without some sort of knot at the shoe lace's end.

Click here on how to wear your boat shoes preppy style.

Newark Catholic's Class of 1969

This is a photo of the "old" neighborhood gang, years ago we spent many hours walking to Newark Catholic High School. We only lived a quarter of a mile away.
From left to right: Judson Ahern, me, Patty Duffy Massaro & Joe Kennedy. This photo means a lot to me as do the people pictured.
For more information about our class click here.
