Shoe Shine Saturday Photo Contest Sponsored by Kiwi Shoe Care

For less than five dollars you can participate in this contest. If you don't want to compete, just spend the five dollars on a can of polish, find a old t-shirt and polish your shoes anyway. If you can not handle the manual labor go to Nordstroms, Alice does a superb job.
"The next time you see a politician who needs a good shoe shine, direct them to this blog. I do not think they ever polish their shoes. But, depending what happens next Tuesday, I may be asking you to forget the blog and send them to me so I may earn some extra pocket money."
As posted by WPDGNEWARK the week before the 2008 election.

Newark, Ohio hidden spot

This beautiful parcel of land sits within the city limits behind North Newark's Walmart and only viewed by several condominium owners. It always looks like a well maintained park.

FIND A NEW ROUTE TO WORK & SHOP WEEK

Traffic patterns have always been a problem, this week with the closing of State Route 16's exit and entrance ramps at North 21st Street has upset many. Country Club Drive, W. Church Street and Granville Street congestion during the construction have proven we need a news copter or least cameras on top of buildings for a traffic report every morning and evening.
The best route I have found to head towards the North 21st Street area is to head towards Downtown Newark, wave at the Chamber Girls and go north on Hudson Avenue.
Steve Layman has said several times to me over the past years,
"highways should not be built through the center of a city". Wish he had been around
in the 60s when St. Rt. 16 was being planned. If he had been,
it may have been also named St. Rt. 161, which is another good idea.

WARNING: HEART ATTACK FACT

Yawning is a normal response to fatigue and drowsiness, but excessive yawning can be caused by a vasovagal reaction. This reaction is caused by the action of a nerve, called the vagus nerve, on the blood vessels. It may indicate a heart problem.A friend of mine last week, yawn often during the afternoon, by late afternoon she passed out. Her co-workers called 911 as they should have done and she was rushed to Licking Memorial Hospital. Not too long ago, she would have been flown to a Columbus area hospital with her issue.
LMH's two year old Interventional Cardiac Services had a cardiologist on duty to examine her problem in the Catheterization Lab and installing a stent into her 100% blocked artery. The best part of this story is she was home in her own bed in three days
and will only have missed work for one week.
