The three week theatre youth workshop as part of the Weathervane Young Artists' Repertory Theatre gave four performances of their summer program this past weekend.

PAY FOR WHO'S HEALTH CARE?
I have never worked for a company who has paid for my health insurance. Today it is costing me thousands of dollars per year, this is one of the reasons why I work. I do not mind working.
I really can not get a grasp on the President's desire to provide health care for free and let me stand by and pay for mine. If health care is provided for the non-working etc, I hope it includes dental coverage. Just think, we will not have so many toothless wonders wondering around town.

Met Cashier #000060 did not forget to say "Thank You"
The other day I stopped by the CVS where I had noticed an outstanding sales person. We did not meet during my initial purchase last week, but when I walked in to shop this time she knew who I was.
She told me what had happened several days after I had written my July 12, 2009 post and sent an email with my blog post to CVS, she told me with excitement about Cliff the district manager wanting to see her, thinking she may be in trouble.
When she had asked me to buy the Gummy Worms, she had only worked at CVS two days, Cashier #000060 has a long work life ahead of her offering customer service and asking for the sale.
The best part of the second visit was that she said an extra "Thank You" when I was leaving the store.

LATE SUNDAY NIGHT DESERT
I have not missed my calling. Late Sunday evening the good old sweet tooth was calling.
Baking is not as hard as I thought, just need to follow the directions on the back of the box.
Only one thing that I needed is missing in the photo, a measuring tape. The directions call for a certain time in the oven according to the pan size. Glad I did not use a round pan, they don't even mention diameters or circumference.
Brownies were reasonably good.

A GREAT SALESPERSON AT CVS
Today, salesmanship is gone, all store clerks and salespeople wait for the purchaser to ask to buy a product. A good salesperson always asks for the sale, if you don't ask often the results will never be in your favor.
This morning I stopped by the CVS (Store #3094) on East Main Street in Newark, Ohio. I was looking for a yellow highlighter. I found a set of four marked "2 for $3", there was only one set. I went to the front counter and asked Cashier #000060 if this set since there was only one on the rack would be $1.50. She asked her superior and came back and surprised me by saying, yes.
Now the real salesperson came out: as she was ringing up my order she asked "would you like a pack of Gummy Worms for $0.99". I looked around to see if there were kids standing behind me that she may have mistaken for mine, no kids and I said no thank you. She then completed my transaction.
After paying, I paused for a moment and ask if she received a bonus for selling the Gummy Worms, she said the store was having a "sort of contest". It impressed me that she would make sure to ask for the sale along with her customer service quality, I purchased two packs of Gummy Worms. She was a great salesperson.
I am sending this post to CVS, in hopes that they will give Cashier #000060 of Store #3094 an extra gift card for taking such good care of Transaction #7726. It would be interesting to return the Gummy Bears, just to see if I end up buying five more packs of candy, this would be the real test.

NEW HAT
John & Donna Lawrence are home from Iran for about a month or so, they brought me a hat that I have been considering buying for several years now.
The photo is of the wool Chitrali or Pakol hat that everyone has seen on the nightly news and often worn by the Afghanistan Northern Alliance or the Afghan Freedom Fighters. Originally from northwest Pakistan, when the Afghans fled to Pakistan, the freedom fighters came back into Afghanistan wearing this had and ready to fight.
