Stolen Iphone adventures on Facebook..........

When a Disney cruise passenger lost her iPhone last month, she thought it was gone forever. But then, like the Hubble Space Telescope, it began to send pictures back from its peregrinations. The iPhone, automatically programmed to upload new photos to Katy McCaffrey’s Apple iCloud account, began transmitting portraits of the alleged phone thief posing with his girlfriend and some pals. McCaffrey decided to upload the photos to Facebook in a gallery entitled ‘Stolen iPhone Adventures‘ and add satirical captions.

While Katy’s actions were clever, the apparent iPhone pirate’s were not. He took pictures of himself wearing his Disney Cruise employee badge, revealing his first name, “Nelson,” according to McCaffrey’s Facebook album. He also didn’t wipe her phone before using it.

McCaffrey first put the photos in a private album, but following encouragement from her friends, she made it public last Monday. Since then, it’s been shared more than 3,000 times. Disney Cruises has confirmed that McCaffrey’s phone has been recovered and an employee placed on administrative leave. The company says it has contacted McCaffrey and is “working on making it right with her.” For her part, McCaffrey told MSNBC that in the meantime, she’s hoping for “some free passes to Disneyland.”

Another no sock kind of guy..............

Since last week, I have had several wpdgnewark readers sending me all kinds of photos and information about men not wearing socks. Thought this one was worth passing along:
Things You Don't Know About Albert Einstein
Part of Einstein's charm was his disheveled look. In addition to his uncombed hair, one of Einstein's peculiar habits was to never wear socks. Whether it was while out sailing or to a formal dinner at the White House, Einstein went without socks everywhere. To Einstein, socks were a pain because they often would get holes in them. Plus, why wear both socks and shoes when one of them would do just fine?

Campaign faces flak..............

From Time.com

The reelection campaign faces flak after donors at a $35,000 a plate dinner were asked to check their devices at the door.

The phenomenon was first reported by the Washington Post‘s David Nakamura, who described how guests who paid $35,800 to meet the President at the New York City home of Blackstone Group COO Hamilton “Tony” James on Monday were asked to drop their phones in a plastic bag at the door. Here’s the scene setter by Nakamura, as quoted by ABC:

"Dozens of guests, men in suits and women in dresses and pant suits, were seated around elegant tables eating dinner in two adjoining rooms. They were sitting on gold colored dining chairs with green seat cushions, and the table cloths had a gold flowered design. Oil artwork in ornate gold frames hung on the wall. It appeared when we came in that staff had confiscated cell phones, which were stored in plastic bags"

The best over-the-counter meds for men.........

From www.menshealth.com
THERE'S SAFETY IN THE PRESCRIPTION PAD—doctor's orders remove all doubt about which pill to pop. But without the chicken scratch on that scrip to guide you, do you know which meds are best? More than 100,000 are available over the counter and contain over 1,000 active ingredients—which you probably ignore. In fact, a new Northwestern University study reveals that 59 percent of people don't always check the contents of their OTC drugs. "Most people shop by symptom, not ingredient," says study author Michael Wolf, Ph.D., M.P.H.

It's time to stop buying blind. We interviewed the experts, decoded the labels, and removed the child-safety caps, all to create this guide to the best over-the-counter remedies for men.

Eco-Frinedly development in the suburbs................

Eco-Friendly Development in the Suburbs

Licking County, Ohio epitomizes the Joel Kotkin (author of The Next Hundred Million: America in 2050) vision of the future which sees eco-friendly development in the United States for the next 40 years will be most robust in amenity-rich suburban locations offering green infrastructure. At one location, the Central Ohio Aerospace & Technology Center in Central Licking County, participants can pay witness to that vision.

In one compact location, the excursion host, the Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority will show off its redevelopment of the former Newark Air Force Base which is, today, an eco-friendly suburban industrial park with pragmatic, real-life applications of eco-friendly infrastructure. Participants will see use of a rail line for freight, recreational paths for commuting, LEED-certified buildings, Segway PT’s for on-site transportation, green manufacturing practices, heat island reduction techniques, pervious concrete drainage systems, and more.

The excursion will also expect to include a live demonstration of The Boeing Company’s Virtual Customer Integration Lab, a glimpse into the future of global collaboration via a virtual, 3-D environment used by Boeing today.

A lot off the top.................

MY BARBER
 Ralph Lauren's barber

Your state’s senators better have nice ‘dos, because the Senate’s barbershop recently received $300,000 to keep it running, despite the decently high fees for haircuts there.

As reported by The Daily, senators didn’t even know that the shop couldn’t pay its bills, especially considering a basic shampoo and cut runs $27. In stark contrast, Capitol Barber, which serves The House of Representatives, doesn’t claim any taxpayer assistance.

The privatized Capitol Barber doesn’t pay its employees quite what the unionized Senate barbershop staff makes, however, with Senate stylists pulling in between $70,000 and $80,000, not counting retirement, health insurance and vacation benefits. On the other end of the spectrum, Capitol Barber stylists make between $22,000 and $30,000.

The Senate salon, located in the basement of the Russell Senate Office Building, opened in 1859 and served only senators, for free, until the 1970s. Now it serves the public—for a price—and welcomed about 27,000 customers last year, still not enough to not require taxpayer money to keep it humming.

The Senate’s Sergeant of Arms, Terrance Gainer, admits the barbershop staff is well paid and has an obvious advantage against other shops. He also says he understands the barbershop must be privatized for the sake of taxpayers. For some reason, we think senators’ hairdos will come out of this just dandy.

Make better Guacamole for Cinco de Mayo..........

"Cinco de Mayo is a guacamole-and-chips holiday. That is, the holiday, like the ubiquitous appetizer, is more of an American thing than a Mexican one. Most Mexicans (save those in the state of Puebla) treat the occasion as a blip on the calendar, just as most don't gather round guacamole with fried tortilla triangles at the ready. But Americans, heck, we'll take any excuse to eat the stuff, which is indeed lovely with chips, but also tucked inside warm tortillas, mixed into rice or soup, or spooned onto grilled anything (fish, chicken, steak)."

Viewing a vacant older home today and came upon what I thought was small storage shed at first in the rear yard.

Car wash for folding chairs.............

With Main Events renting thousands of folding chairs per month, you have to keep them in good shape and ready for your next customer. Yesterday while nibbing in their warehouse I came across this piece of equipment that includes rinser, scrubber and a blow dryer. Click here to check out what else Main Events has to offer.

After my viewing of the facility, I now know where to rent cotton candy machines as well as snow-cones machines, Tiki bars, diamond chrome plated bars, six foot talk champagne fountains, 400 square feet play houses, all kind of wedding decorations and more.

Tim's cocktail napkins................

Tim Fitterer added this message in a recent text: "I still use cocktale napkins. They are out of fashion -- and the ones left over from my father's bar are way out of fashion--but i like them and still use them. They remind me of a better time. A time when people could laugh at a joke without worry."
